Jamie Grant is our International Officer, tasked with linking in YSI to like-minded, progressive youth wings worldwide, as well as working with international YSI members to progress their aims and ambitions.
Originally against the idea of Scottish independence, attending the University of Stirling in late 2013 Jamie found himself comparing the lacklustre Better Together campaign with the fun, vibrant and energetic Yes campaign. He soon converted, and spent many long winter evenings and summer nights leafleting for an independent Scotland.
It sadly wasn’t to be, but soon after he joined the SNP.Getting truly stuck in after the 2016 Brexit vote, Jamie was a committee member of the Stirling University Scottish Nationalist Association during his studies. Involved in local student politics, he found immense satisfaction in helping his community and representing his peers. He remains active in his local City of Stirling branch, where he holds the role of Political Education Officer.
Before being elected to the YSI National Executive Committee, Jamie was a member of the YSI Mid-Scotland and Fife in the role of Communications Officer and Vice-Convener. He strongly encourages all young people who want to see an independent Scotland in their lifetimes, to get involved in politics and don’t let history pass them by!
