Angus Nelson has been campaigning for Scottish Independence since before the 2014 referendum, and joined the Meadows/Morningside SNP branch in 2019. Since then, he has attended the 2019 annual conference as a delegate for his branch, where he went to the YSI conference karaoke, which convinced him to start taking part in the YSI. A few months later, Angus was elected National Treasurer of the YSI, running unopposed.
Angus was heavily involved in helping Catriona MacDonald run for Edinburgh South in the 2019 General Election, organising YSI canvassing sessions, and acting as a counting agent on the night of the election. He has since been elected as YSI officer for his branch.
